The years have flown by and youth has dissolved into maturity,
Pictures are now fragile and the house is filled with stuff.
The car, once new and prized, now needs repair after repair.
Life is running in overdrive—“what’s next?” we question.
Our minds are filled with memories of things we’ve enjoyed,
The good friends we’ve had…”wonder what they’re doing now?”
Distance and busyness got in the way; the letters and calls ceased.
But One Faithful Friend has always been there, taking it all in.
He has captured each tear of joy and sadness we’ve shed. (Ps. 56:8)
He’s carried us through the years, and is doing it still. (Isa. 46:4)
He’s counted and recounted the hairs on our heads. (Matt. 10:30)
Held out His hand in blessing; has smiled and cried with us. (Matt. 5:45)
A Book of Remembrance records our journey with God. (Mal. 3:16)
He is the Resurrection and the Life, able to reunite loved ones. (John 11:25)
He’s building mansions for us to enjoy where He is. (John 14:3)
Has a new name for us—fitting of our experience with Him. (Rev. 2:17)
Tho’ everything in this life vanishes away, God stays.
He’s strong enough to keep our dearest treasures safe.
What a wonderful Treasure Keeper You are, God.
Hold my heart, keeping it safe in Your love, because I cannot keep it.
