Getting up early and staying outdoors;
Finding suitable pasture is the major chore;
Watching for predators that might harm the sheep;
Keeping eyes open, not a moment for sleep.
Calling their names and cleaning their wounds;
Being compassionate and humming glad tunes;
Counting each head when the day is done;
Thus ends the Shepherd’s day in the blazing sun.
The Divine Shepherd continually sees;
He’s listening closely and hears each plea;
His heart is drawn out when His sheep cry;
He sends His angels to help; they swiftly fly.
“Fear not, I’m leading you,” says He;
“I am near and will never ever leave thee.
When earth’s weary days are finally over,
Then you’ll be safe in My arms forever!”
