At the creation of our world, You made everything good.
The earth was exceeding beautiful and loaded with food.
The bounty was a gift for all—especially for Adam and Eve,
Your love and tender care for Your creation is clear to see.
Yet being God You knew everything that would happen.
You knew the Serpent would speak and that Eve would listen.
That Adam would be most loyal to Eve and eat the forbidden.
At Creation Your eyes were wide open knowing we’d be broken.
After they ate the fruit Adam and Eve were scared and hiding.
You made a promise of hope for the future instead of chiding.
You taught them that the Serpent would be crushed one day,
All the while knowing the awful price that would have to be paid.
There is nothing hidden from You, sovereign Lord,
You made our world knowing sin’s results of discord.
Your eyes were wide open, knowing we were hurt and broken.
Jesus understood, “Father forgive them,” was spoken.
We stretch our minds to try to understand why You would,
Embark on a project and give it all that You could,
Knowing ahead of time that it be engulfed in sin and rebel,
And that You would have to pay the price to make it well.
We praise You for salvation, restoration and healing.
We praise You for the love You keep revealing.
We’re blessed that you chose us knowing the future struggle.
You came with EYES WIDE OPEN, to banish all our trouble
